Monday’s are for a new week of projects!

I spent almost all day Saturday painting on my current project, but unfortunately I didn’t get much done with it yesterday.  I’m hoping to get further along with installation and touch ups today so I can get this one done!  Mentally, I’ve already moved on to the next project (and, if I’m being honest, to the one after that too).

I was able to finish up my parents room last Thursday, so that project is DONE!  The other house I’m working on has added another item to the ‘to-do’ list, but the furniture I was waiting on to be moved this week was done over the weekend, so I’m planning to see if I can get that house done today!

I also wanted to post up a few pictures of the last small project I worked on when I was out of town (I thought I had already done that, but clearly not).

The last project I completed was just a small wooden wall décor piece for my mom’s birthday.  She loves the beach, specifically North Myrtle Beach, SC, so I thought I’d make her something using South Carolina.

I picked up a small piece of craft wood from Hobby Lobby and created the template on my computer.  Once I had it all lined up on the piece, I just used the graphite transfer paper to create the stencil and then burned the text and states.  Then, I painted the entire piece white except the letters.  Now, since my mom doesn’t really like the ‘distressed’ look, I just added some dry brushed blues and teals for a ‘beachy’ look but didn’t sand or distress at all.  I don’t have a picture of the back, but I did also add a small saw tooth hanger on the back.  I think it turned out ok, but of course, I would’ve preferred a more distressed look to it.  And, I definitely would not paint after burning again.  It’s kind of a pain to get between the letters and small spaces!

Here’s to another productive week! If I don’t stay busy, I’ll keep mentally designing new things to do and my list will never end:)
